The sustainability of Community-Based Programmes for obesity prevention is a critical issue for programme managers. To ensure the longevity of these programmes it is crucial to obtain multi-year funding commitments. When programmes are not sustainable over time, when they are only able to implement actions on the ground for a limited period of time only, their potential to be successful in reducing current rates of obesity and promote healthy active lifestyles is significantly jeopardised. It is one of the reason for which EPODE has always supported the notion of PPP. Neither public nor private funding only is a viable solution. Through Public-Private collaboration, the two sectors work towards shared objectives through a mutually agreed division of labor, committing resources and engaging in their own ways to achieve these objectives.
