DGS, PORTUGAL
Direção-General da Saúde
The National Programme for the Promotion of Healthy Eating (PNPAS) is one of the eight Portuguese priority programmes of the Directorate-General of Health (DGS). The PNPAS aims to improve the nutritional status of the population, encouraging physical and economic availability of food constituents of an eating pattern and create the conditions so that the population valorise, appreciate and consume them, integrating them into their daily routines. The DGS, through the PNPAS, is represented in the World Health Organization as focal point for the Nutritional issues and as national focal point in the High Level Group on Nutrition and Physical Activity. DGS also runs national observational studies related to Food Security.
